tlea
Question: Is it possible to use a USB to S/PDIF converter like Halide Bridge to link a DAC to my computer in the reverse direction? Rather than output music from my computer to my stereo, I want to do the opposite: input the digital output from a DAC to a laptop USB port so I can capture it as a FLAC using Audacity. I don't have a bridge or I would try it. Any advice based on experience is appreciated. Link to comment
Audio_ELF
You can't use a HiFace in reverse. A lot of audio interfaces do have SPDIF input: check our M-Audio; RME; EMu and ESi for lower priced devices. The EMu 0404 USB 2.0 would be a good starting place to look. Eloise Eloise --- ...in my opinion / experience... While I agree "Everything may matter" working out what actually affects the sound is a trickier thing. And I agree "Trust your ears" but equally don't allow them to fool you - trust them with a bit of skepticism. keep your mind open... But mind your brain doesn't fall out. Link to comment
wgscott
Many of the macs allow an optical input via the mic minijack. Can you try that? Link to comment
