P818
Many people have had issues with album artwork disappearing after updating to Catalina or Big Sur. The new location where artwork is stored is now ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.APMArtworkAgent/Data/Documents Link to comment
kirkmc
That doesn’t help. The format of the files is different, so you can’t just copy over the old files. For most people, all the artwork displayed after a few days. I don’t know why it take so long, but that seems to of been the case for everyone I’ve been in touch with who had problems. grinner
What happens with albums for which Apple Music cannot find artwork? I have many albums that I had to obtain artwork from (for example) Google images or by scanning the CD insert. There are a lot of albums that fall into this category e.g. older classical or jazz albums, fan club CDs, one-off concert releases, remasterings etc. I didn't upgrade from Mojave (10.14.5) to Catalina because I didn't want to lose all this. kirkmc
If the artwork is embedded in your files - you added artwork to them - it won't be lost. There have been some issues with people's artwork not displaying, and,, in most cases, it does display after a few days. Worst case, the artwork is still in the files, and if you remove it and re-add it, it displays. I write about Macs, music, and more at Kirkville. Author of Take Control of macOS Media Apps. grinner
Thank you. I think I'll upgrade to Big Sur and see what happens. Link to comment
