Popular Post ChrisG
I've owned a BDA-3.14 since February and use it as a Roon endpoint in my living room surround system. I think it sounds better than using the Trinnov Altitude 16's built in Roon capabilities, just as I thought my Linn Klimax DSM sounded better than the A16 (the KDSM is now in a dedicated 2-channel room). In fact. both of these streamers use similar AK DAC chips with excellent output stages and do have a similar, engaging sound. Regarding the comments in the review, I agree that Manic Moose is terrible and, if I didn't have Roon, I'd be very disappointed that I had to use that interface. As for build quality, I don't have the problem that Chris had with the review model - no defects at all. Back to Manic Moose - if someone is considering buying the BDA-3.14 to use with Roon, be aware that it is not Roon Ready certified and, with Roon's recent announcement that non-certified components will no longer be able to used with Roon after 9/21 (unless you're already using it w/ your account and/or you fill out a form on their forum), you won't be able to use it with Roon until Bryston gets off their rears and gets it certified.
