Chris M.
We all know what iTunes does to a music file when it's compressed from aif. to aac. What happens when you create a aif. from an aac? Is all the missing data restored? iMac G5, Headroom Micro Amp & Micro DAC, AKG K702's, Headphile headphone cable, PS Audio Duet, PS Audio Noise harvesters Chris M. Link to comment
The Computer Audiophile
Hi Chris - No the missing information is not restored. It's impossible to convert from a lossy format to a lossless format and include all original information in the lossless file. It would be like getting something from nothing. Chris M.
That's what I figured. So what is the "new" data in the file If I go from 3.3MB to 27MB? I'm a bit of a "newbie" when it comes to PC/Mac audio. I'm also a bit of a headphone geek as I've yet to find any workstation powered speakers that are any good. I'm wanting to check out the new B&W's. Chris M. Link to comment
