bom13
Folks Am writing in on a question regarding conversion of Flac to Aiff. There is a version of the remastered Beatles stereo catalog being sold by musicdirect which essentially is a flash drive with all songs remastered to 24-bit/44.1k rate via FLAC files. Santa wants to drop this off...but I since I currently use iTunes as my library, i'm concerned about the work involved to batch convert the catalog to AIFF along with concerns about getting all the metadata over correctly to iTunes. I've searched the forum and it seems that XLD is the preferred conversion utility..but unfortunately it's only for Mac's. Has anybody got any input for a quality utility like XLD..but useable in the windows world? I've done some research on DBpoweramp which seems like a strong contender, but would like to try and get some feedback from the community here first. Also am curious if any of you out there have heard these hi-rez versions of the recent Beatles remasters? Link to comment
The Computer Audiophile
Hi bom13 - I have the 24/44.1 version and used dBpoweramp to convert the FLAC files to AIFF. I highly recommend doing it this way. You can batch convert all the files at once. The sound quality of the 24 bit files is very nice. Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment
bom13
Hey Chris Thanks much for the reply. So it looks like dBpoweramp is the way to go for me. Glad to hear also that you've heard (& like) the lossless versions...so I guess I'll let Santa know to pull the lever on this one! Link to comment
sbooth
Depending on your comfort of using the shell, you can also use the FLAC command-line tools directly to accomplish FLAC to AIFF or FLAC to WAVE conversions. Link to comment
