I am proud to admit I don't hear a difference in Hi Rez. I also admit I hear difference in them in my system when I run hundreds of DSPs and for that reason alone I use 24/96 and if possible I want 192 sampling for more accuracy in the processing.

When I talked to Archimago at Axpona he mentioned the possibility that people with certain types of hearing damage may be prone to hearing high resolution files. This was only based on his very very very limited sample, but it’s kind of interesting. 

With the exception to Arny Krueger. 😂

 

Also, I am glad that my hearing must be improving so much that now I can listen to MP3s.

Thanks to DSP, I think the importance of mics may soon disappear. Not many could distinguish good and poor quality and I am totally useless at that.

I have a SACD of different microphones sound of piano made by DPA. IIRC, SOS used to have lossless samples.  Music is not complicated. It is meant to be enjoyed for what it is. Not looking for difference that would be masked when we listen them for pleasure anyway.

The meta-analysis also did not pursue ques- tions regarding specific implementations of audio systems, such as the choice of filtering applied, the specific high resolution audio format that was chosen, or the influence of the various hardware components in the audio record- ing and reproduction chain (other than assessing potential biases that might be introduced by poor choices).
