Shadders
Hi, Is it possible that one person is discussing how a bit stream signal is created, and another person is discussing how that bit stream is transformed into a sound signal (analogue) ??? Regards, Shadders. Link to comment
Shadders
Hi, The following Sony/Philips top level document from 2001 regarding DSD : http://www.muszeroldal.hu/assistance/sacd.pdf States : "The amplitude of the input analog signal is represented by the density of pulses output. The density of output pulses increases with increasing input signal amplitude" Maybe in simplifying the description, they have introduced ambiguity ? Regards, Shadders. Teresa 1 Link to comment
Shadders
Hi, Another document, earlier from 1997 from Sony/Philips : http://www.superaudiocenter.com/images/dsd.pdf Indicates "Because the instantaneous amplitude of the analog waveform is represented by the density of pulses, the method is sometimes called Pulse Density Modulation (PDM)" The use of the word "sometimes" may mean the document is not strictly accurate.
