I thought that it was a bug in JRiver, and I reported the issue on their forum. But today, I bought Audirvana Origin that also supports the DSF Wavpacked format, and I have the same issue when I stream with Origin to GentooPlayer Host.

What if you play JRiver or Audirvana with the dac connected to the running JRiver/Audirvana pc?

I thought SSH was disable on HPQe OS

In order to use ssh you need to define a user/pwd.

Connect monitor and keyboard, login as root/no password

get root rights with su root

type useradd your-preferred-user-name

hit enter

type passwd your-preferred-user-name

then, as requested, type the new password twice.

Now you can remove monitor and keyboard and start a ssh session using the just defined user/password

will still send the music files over the network B -> A -> B

That’s wrong,

in UPNP environment the control point just sends to the renderer the file address that must be played (or the full queue list if it is UPNP/OpenHome), then the renderer asks the server for the file and, once it received it, it starts to play.

Therefore the file path is only from the server to the renderer

No. Ropiee offers a bridge for Roon. UPNP players, like Audirvana, JRiver, etc… can not stream to it.

They do work with RopieeeXL which is a version of Ropieee with additional renderers, UPNP, NAA, Squeezelite.

RoPieee is now only RoPieee, no more RoPieeeXL, and it has all XL services … and there is actually a UPNP bridge ….
