Laptop to V-DAC hook up

Hello, I have a Musical Fidelity V-Dac that I am trying to connect to my laptop via an USB-a & USB-b cable from the V-DAC to the laptop. The laptop’s operating system is Microsoft Vista and the music off the laptop will not play thought my stereo system. The laptop does not recognize the V-DAC or USB connection for output from the laptop! Can anyone provide me some assistance in resolving this problem? Your help would be greatly appreciated. Hi jsp - Can you be a little more descriptive about the laptop not recognizing the V-DAC? Does the DAC show up in the sound preferences in the control panel? What playback software are you using?
