Hi all.

I cannot decide is it needed to set up amarra junior if i listen to my itunes ALAC library via mini-toslink output connected to outside hi-fi DAC? Will be the difference in sound quality with amarra and without it?

Thanks for your respond.

I have the following system: Denon 1508 (av-receiver) + Canton Chrono 507 DC. As I told I connect my Macbook Pro to Denon via mini-toslink.

Yesterday I downloaded Amarra junior. I listened many times and I didn't hear the difference.

Unfortunately...

Hey belkoff,

Of all the ways that AES/EBU digital audio can be moved from one device to another, TOSlink is the weakest. Due to the high internal optical loss in the plastic optical fibre used in most TOSlink interconnects, this connection type results in relatively high jitter when compared to an equivalent unbalanced (RCA) electrical connection. So, if possible, you might try an alternative connection to your Denon.

Regards,
