matthias
I listened to the SE at High End Munich 2017 and was disappointed. I think the SE has some strong competitors like the latest Antipodes DX. Matt "I want to know why the musicians are on stage, not where". (John Farlowe) Link to comment

But it was in a system that I did have any experience with Yes, the sound was completely uninspiring and left me emotionally uninvolved. I think the price difference between the standard and the SE is too steep. As you said the SE will be bettered in a few years. Another point is that the SE is an upgrade only, not a complete new design. Matt "I want to know why the musicians are on stage, not where". (John Farlowe) Link to comment

AFAIK, Roy listens from the Dave output directly into speakers in a nearfield position. Matt "I want to know why the musicians are on stage, not where". (John Farlowe) Link to comment
matthias
Custom HiFi cables in UK made the conversion from standard to SE: http://www.custom-hifi-cables.co.uk/ The prices on their HP for similar conversions are much less than what Innuos is charging for the difference between standard and SE.. The mobo is easy to get but the configuration and s/w fine tuning is what we will need to scratch our head with. Dev, certainly, scroll down this site and find PSU for a lot of gear up to 5 ampere, for example the Innuos Zen Mini: http://www.custom-hifi-cables.co.uk/home/power-supplies/dc3-power-supply Matt "I want to know why the musicians are on stage, not where". matthias
It is a pity that neither Innuos nor CHC publish specs for the PS in the standard or SE. I can imagine that even in the SE the PS is inferior to a PH SR7. Matt "I want to know why the musicians are on stage, not where". (John Farlowe) Link to comment

Lots of people have a strong preference for one box as opposed to 2 or multiple boxes. Yes, I would buy the standard Zenith and if not satisfied would bring it to CHC later on for modification.
