mfin
I wonder if somebody could rattle through the various ways of getting the sMS-200ultra to play tidal (with mqa passing through to Brooklyn Dac+), configurations and apps needed. I know the Roon route and know the browsing experience it brings, but am looking for other ways too, which won't have additional costs like the costs of Roon. I'd want to choose what to play on Macbook, iPad and iPhone. Also, it would be good to know if any of the methods are superior in the way of SQ or whether all are the same. Thanks! Link to comment
left channel
There is a Tidal plug-in for Logitech Media Server (LMS). You wouldn't get MQA or any of the Roon sound processing features, but you'd get CD quality sound. You would run Squeezelite on the sMS-200ultra and then control it using iPeng on the iPad and iPhone, or by opening LMS in a web browser on your Mac. Everyone wants to date my avatar. Link to comment
mfin
Thanks. Ok, that's one way, and I understand it. You say no mqa though? Won't it do mqa passthrough that my Dac can then unfold? Link to comment
left channel
At this time the plug-in does not support MQA. Other users have tried all sorts of gymnastics to ensure a bit perfect signal, but apparently that's not enough. When I play "Masters" tracks through LMS, they show up as the same 44.1 variable bit rate streams I get with old versions of the same tracks. Qobuz hi-res tracks, on the other hand, play in full 24/96 or 24/192 resolution through the third-party Qobuz plug-in for LMS. I also use LMS to play rippped CDs from the server, as well as the Radio Paradise FLAC plug-in and regular internet radio. Everyone wants to date my avatar. Link to comment
Madra
You could try the Audirvana 3. route. It is not free, but costs much less than Roon, and has an Ios remote app. Link to comment
