witchdoctor
If you go to the JBL website you see they have 3 lines of the Studio series of speakers, Studio 8, Studio 5 and Studio 2 and the 8 series is the most expensive. I see complete surround systems of this JBL series on sale at roughly a 60% discout. Buy one set and you have a 5.1 system. Buy two and you have a complete auro 3d/dts-x/atmos immersive system. Check the reviews for those specifics, they describe equipment, room, and results. Remember with Amazon you get a 30 day returns just in case. Link to comment
PhilR
Not bad For the price of a higher-end sound bar, you can get the whole surround setup minus the amp. Synology DS1515+ > PS Audio P10 > Innuos Zenith Mk II running Roon Core > IsoRegen/LPS-1 > Lyngdorf TDAI 2170 > Tekton Double Impact Speakers Link to comment

Given your answer, its safe to assume that you never heard the speakers you're raving about. Link to comment

I ended up buying the JBL 230's because they were half the price of the 830's and didn't have room for the 880's or 280's. The room was big and they demoed with an HK receiver, forget which one. The guy BOUGHT the system, now that is an endorsement. Anyone can say they like something, it is another thing to let your money do the talking. Link to comment
