How to post a screen capture?

Been trying to post some screen captures in the Software section. Copy and Paste don't seem to work. Is there a better way to post screen captures from a Macbook running El Capitan?

NOTE: I can capture the screen shots to my desktop but am unable to add to message.

Click the "Insert Image" icon in the reply window menubar.

 

 

Click "From Computer" in the Insert Image window. Click "Browse". Direct it to the file you have saved, then click "Open". Then click "Upload". Once the image appears in the reply window, if you double-click on in, you can adjust size and justification.
