Here's a 1TB Samsung solid-state drive (SSD) installed in an Other World Computing Mercury Elite Pro enclosure. This is a great external drive for your music library, but was not much used in mine, since it was in my secondary music system.

 

Some specs:

Samsung SSD = 840 EVO, 1 TB, 2.5-inch

OWC Mercury = FireWire 800 & USB 3.0 ports

OWC Mercury = 3.8 in (W) x 5.5 in (D) x 1.1 in (H)

 

This Samsung SSD is super-fast and super-stable. And this OWC enclosure can be bus-powered via FireWire 800 or USB 3.0, which eliminates potential switching power-supply sound issues. It's silent (fanless) and runs super-cool with the Samsung SSD. Comes with FireWire and USB cables.

 

Works with either Macintosh or Windows systems.

This is like the 3rd time this kind of thing has happened, so is there anything else you want to sell that I need?

 

The beauty of this, for anyone else contemplating purchase, is it is very quiet and makes very little demand on your computer's power supply. There is no sound when your album art loads, unlike with an HHD, and no spin-up lag.

 

Don't forget to highlight the Oxford 944SE high-performance chipset in the enclosure.
