mr_bill
Close to the same price and using the Mini w/LPS, is this better than a basic Aries (no the upgraded Aries). The prices would be close between Mini w/LPS and Aries. Link to comment
badlyread
Define close. 25%? Aries £810. Mini £375 + LPS £210 = £585. In the UK anyway. I would say say that the Mini is more versatile in that it has its own internal DAC and is able to take a HDD/SSD. As to SQ? Pass. Link to comment
mr_bill
I think they are within $200 here in the US. Close enough to get the one that sounds the best as a streamer. Link to comment
davide256
In some ways Aries is undercutting the LE in that they offer the full Aries Linear Power Supply as an option with the Mini but can't do so with the LE. Believe the better buy is Mini with LPS. Wouldn't surprise me if this was a precursor to stop offering the LE. I've listened to both and am of the opinion that an LPS is the deciding factor for sound quality. I may buy a second Mini as I originally intended the Mini for a headphone listening station but can't bring myself now to unhook it from main system... having its own DAC with RCA + USB outputs means it can be used with any headphone amp.
