timequest
Does ripping an SACD to file, capture the same level of information as contained in the SACD itself? How does DSD factor into the equation; must the ripping application and the player/server devices support DSD? If a server (DAC) supports native sample rates up to 24/192, will it support files ripped from SACD? What happens when you rip a dual layered SACD; which layer is being ripped – the SACD layer; or the standard CD layer? Link to comment
timequest
I found the answer to my basic question – in that SACD and DSD requires a proprietary “key” to “unlock” the encoded information. Oh well…. What about ripping DVD Audio discs; is the process as straight forward as ripping a CD to file for playback via a server? Link to comment
The Computer Audiophile
Hi Timequest - Ripping DVD-Audio is a little different from ripping Compact Discs. Do a search here on the site for rip DVD-Audio and you get some results that will get you going. Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment
