PC via USB to DAC or LAN Server via USB to DAC

I am beginning to use an Auralic Vega DAC, using usb in from my music server pc (win8, running JRiver). Instead of direct from the PC, I could use the USB output from a SOtM Miniserver into the Vega. It is difficult to do rapid comparisons due to the need to shut devices down and swap usb lines. I am going to try it, but my prior experience is that it is hard to distinguish small differences unless I can do rapid back and forth comparisons. Does anyone have a thought about which would be preferred?

In your position, I'd make a serious attempt at using HQPlayer upsampling to 352/384k>using the SOtM as an NAA as per Miska's site.

Thanks, I will look into using HQPlayer to control SOtM Miniserver then to Vega DAC
