One and a half
I love Jane's work except on the last album which just didn't gel for me musically, and this one is much the same. Only until we get to track 8 "Born to be Blue" do we see a classical Monheit, as for the rest, as if a cacophony of instruments are thrown in the background at various speeds in an attempt to play at the same time or is it catch up. What a mess, is it the mix this time, or just artistic content?? From the samples, a bit too much on vocal gymnastics...was really looking forward to "Until It's Time For You To Go" which would suit Jane's voice, as if she's in a higher register than she's comfortable with, and "Golden Slumbers"......yes, time to nod off. Even if it had great sonic content, there's not enough to rescue this, 'recording'. Might download the VH set in 96/24 to perk things up a little or better still, Sarah Brightman's "Dreamchaser" in redbook/24. Just bring her back safely from space, please. Just my 2c or less.
