firedog
Have had a good listen now. Much better than my original US LP, or either CD I own- 90's and 2003 remaster. Main impression: better at both frequency extremes, better S\N ratio - music seems to come from a quieter background, so detail (including lyrics) is easier to hear; subjectively seems louder than the 2003 CD, even though the DR is slightly higher (see below). To me, it seems to have the proper amount of bass. Doesn't sound "digital" at all. Very glad I got this in DSD. Just compared the CD layer rip to my 2003 CD remaster. 2003, the cuts have DR values of 11, 10, and 9 - avg. of 10. Hybrid CD Redbook rip has DR of 11 for each track thanks to Jesus for ripping the DSD for me. Main listening (small home office): Main setup: Surge protectors +>Isol-8 Mini sub Axis Power Strip/Protection>QuietPC Low Noise Server>Roon (Audiolense DRC)>Stack Audio Link II>Kii Control>Kii Three BXT (on their own electric circuit) >GIK Room Treatments. Secondary Path: Server with Audiolense RC>RPi4 or analog>Cayin iDAC6 MKII (tube mode) (XLR)>Kii Three BXT Bedroom: SBTouch to Cambridge Soundworks Desktop Setup. Living Room/Kitchen: Ropieee (RPi3b+ with touchscreen) + Schiit Modi3E to a pair of Morel Hogtalare. All absolute statements about audio are false Link to comment
