coot Posted October 18, 2012 Share Posted October 18, 2012 It strikes me that two or more different systems playing the exact same music in different rooms, could theoretically all sound the same - except for maybe resolution. That is, if DRC is working to make flatter response (similar room acoustics), why would they not sound very much alike - at least in tone? Link to comment
Miska Posted October 18, 2012 Share Posted October 18, 2012 Even if frequency response is flat, still reflection/reverb properties are different. In different rooms you get different amount of direct vs reflected sound at different frequencies. And since hearing can sense directions too, this affects the overall picture. Same for reverberation at different frequencies. This is amplified by the fact that different speakers have different directional radiation patterns (see for example Stereophile's measurements of speakers for good figures)...
