markr
The difference is obvious, right? I am amazed that I still have people doubting the what seems to me to be obvious difference in quality between the two formats. 24 bit / 96 KHz is the clear winner to me. I found this out with the first external A/D D/A I used here in 1999. Of course, back then the only way I could prove it was to musicians after they had heard the difference in performance takes done in the two different formats. There wasn't any source material to be had at the time - AFAIK, other than DVD soundtracks.
--Mac OS X users: don't forget to use your Utility Folder program: Audio MIDI Setup to set the 'Audio Output' 'format' to "96000 Hz", when you try this (slow) A/B test at the 24/96 rate.

My old 'discovery' DAC: http://www.motu.com/products/motuaudio/828

Chris, Thanks for turning down the silence.

markr
"There are only two kinds of people: Those who understand binary and those who don't"
hear here Link to comment
