Audio_ELF
Too bad I can't read Japaneese... Is there a translation? Eloise --- ...in my opinion / experience... And I agree "Trust your ears" but equally don't allow them to fool you - trust them with a bit of skepticism. keep your mind open... But mind your brain doesn't fall out. Link to comment
MarkB
Interesting. The Japanese always hold back the really cool stuff for years. But it is a sign of the times! The specs are there. Just look in between the Japanese. 35w ch. - USB 2.0 / 2 optical / 2 co-ax inputs. etc. etc. Back panel pic. I wonder how it sounds and build quality? Anyway, nice! Daphne
Here is a link to an English translation. The 720 seems to be an integrated amp with an internal USB DAC 24/192. http://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?hl=en&rurl=translate.google.com&sl=ja&tl=en&twu=1&u=http://www.comfadio.com/SHOP/CF0001-0038.html&usg=ALkJrhiu8guMdb6tt-dNugml-CRSpi1IAA There are also three links on the page to English translated press releases and reviews. Audio_ELF
Okay so I forgot google translate... The correct link is http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=ja&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.rasteme.co.jp%2Fproduct%2Faudio%2Frda-720%2Frda720.html Okay so getting that out the way, the spec gives no indication this is anything special or innovative... The Devialet is unique in terms of its combination of a low powered Class A amplifier and a high powered Class D amplifier. Well that and it's form factor. This Japanese amp is more comparable to a Peachtree Nova or Naim SuperNait - a DAC combined with an amplifer. Oh its TFT as a front pannel maybe unique... Except for Classe use similar... One and a half
Th XMOS processor is ubiquitous these days, so it integrating it into an amp is a logical step, keeps the signal paths short. Having SMPS in an analog amp would probably give it the death knell here, but for its price, it's a consideration! The display would give off RFI in gobfuls, so not a great idea, the Koreans would love it though AS Profile Equipment List Say NO to MQA Link to comment
