My modem is on the lower level, near the front of the house. The wi-fi signal was weak at the rear of the main floor so I added a range extender, and then a second range extender. The Wi-Fi signal is now strong everywhere, but three Chromecast streamers on the main floor are still unreliable. I believe the problem is that Chromecast is trying to latch to the modem directly, and is ignoring the extenders. I tried resetting one of the Chromecast Audio dongles and reconnecting to my wi-fi signal, but it made no improvement. When I tried the worst Chromecast Audio puck on the lower level, it worked reliably. The range extenders have the same network name and password as the modem. I don't understand why Chromecast will not use the stronger signal from the extenders. Any idea what I can do? Moving the DSL modem is not feasible, nor is adding a wired connection to upstairs.
