After bringing a new amp for my main system (Odyssey Stratos) I performed an A/B comparison between two power cables since it's been a while since I last done one. 1. LessLoss DFPC Standard ($660) 2. 14ga basic black cable that was shipped with the amp. According to LessLoss, the DFPC works via the skin effect and proprietary shielding to separate out high-frequency mains noise out of the cable. It's the bottom of the DFPC line and uses Oyaide plugs which they claim sound the best. The bundled black power cable is exactly like any black cable you'd buy on Amazon going by appearance. Result of the test: the LessLoss was clearly superior. Layering of different vocals didn't change, but they were clearer and "popped" out of the background further. In comparison, vocals, cymbals, etc, seemed muted with the black cable. The soundstage didn't change, but the actors on the stage become more prominent and distinct from each other. Note this is just the amp. No power filtering is being used. My Furutech outlet was used with both cables. I know that a lot of people here already know how important power cables are, and I know many of you guys have already moved onto much better cables than the LessLoss. For the sake of the less experienced audiophiles I thought I should provide this feedback to help them over the edge to abandoning the objectivist cult and expanding their audio horizons.
