Chip S
Hi Folks and Happy Holidays to all, I'm new to the world of computer audio but have battled the audio demons since the 70s... I have an unused older Dell laptop with a Pentium M 1.70 GHz cpu, 2 G of ram and windows XP-can this be made into a reasonably good server with some updates like Windows 7 and Jplay or should I just call it the kitchen PC? Thanks, Chip Link to comment
GrahamJohnMiles
My netbook has a slower cpu and less memory yet plays music beautifully. Make sure you have a USB2 or S/PDIF port. Older PC's may only have USB1.1. Disk space may be an issue too, but you can add a NAS drive. Windows XP would be minimum requirement I think. This is my quick opinion. I'm sure others will give more details. Link to comment
