AudioDoctor
Laura Marling- Once I was an Eagle Only have time to listen to it 3 times, but I love it. She links one song with the next in a good natural way. Nice lyrics, beautiful playing and singing. Joni Mitchell fans should like it. Oscar I finally gave in after seeing this album posted a few times by different people here, so I fired up MOG to give it a listen. I ordered it on CD and on Vinyl. It is great! AudioDoctor
Cat Power - Dark End of the StreetAs far as I know, this is only available on vinyl or digital via iTunes...kinda of a shame because it really is good. I have a copy on Vinyl, sadly I paid through the nose for it because I was late to the Cat Power bandwagon. I am listening to this on vinyl tonight. AudioDoctor
No, it's 88 KHz. Recorded in 2004 -- the first of Vanska's Beethoven cycle. BIS still does a lot of recordings in 44.1. Chamber music tends to be 96 KHz, whereas orchestral recordings more often are 44.1. I suspect it's because the orchestral recordings require more microphones and they don't have a hi-res mixer with that many channels. FWIW, this is the only Vanska Beethoven album that I like. The subsequent ones seem willfully eccentric. On the other hand, I like the Vanska/Minnesota Sibelius albums a lot, whereas I find the Vanska/Lahti Sibelius too eccentric. I own and like all the Vanska/MN Orchestra albums, but I am biased being from MN and a patron of the MN Orchestra. I am very saddened by the current state of the MN Orchestra and the atmosphere that led to Vanska leaving. edit: member bissie is I believe one of the, if not the, owner of BIS recordings. If you have questions I am sure he can answer them for you. No electron left behind. Link to comment
AudioDoctor
I started by spinning J.J. Cale's Troubador when I got home, which led to a J.J. Cale night. SO far I have listened to Naturally and Roll On in addition to Troubador. No electron left behind. Link to comment
