Apollo
I am temporarely using a Teac UD-505X dac, based on ESS Technology ES9038 Q2M ×2 chip. This dac supports up to 768kHz PCM and 22.5 Mhz (DSD512) I have put all (pcm) filtering and internal upsampling off. The dac is connected to a Holo Red running Naa OS. I am upsampling to DSD512 with standard filters poly-sinc-gauss-long & poly-sinc-hirez-lp. Modulator is ASDM7EC-super 512 fs. Sound is very bizar. Detailled at bottom and high end but muffled in the midrange. Also soundstage is not correct. So this is definitely not the right way to drive this dac. Should I switch to PCM or is there still a combination that could be used for DSD512 (or DSD256)? Dirk Link to comment

Try for example with ASDM5EC-super at DSD256 and DSD512 if it makes difference. If the analog stage implementation is proper, ES9038Q2M works fine up to DSD512. Also do not enable 48k DSD! This is particularly rare to work correctly on ESS. Apollo 1 Signalyst - Developer of HQPlayer Pulse & Fidelity - Software Defined Amplifiers Link to comment
