I came looking for information on whether version 2.9 would add better SQ and I was impressed with the testimony of colleagues, I can't wait for my SD to arrive, shipping to Brazil takes a long time, almost a month has passed and I still haven't received it.

Great! When I updated the OS from version 2.7 to 2.8 with UltraRendu I didn't notice any improvement in SQ, today I have OpticalRendu with OS 2.8.

 

My network is already well treated, linear sources on every dirty side of the set (routers and Core) fiber from the main router to the sound room (about 20 meters).

I don't know if it's exactly the same problem but occasionally I have crashes when using Roon + HQP with the OR, it gives a warning “Roon has lost connection with the device” and just comes back by doing a full reset. This happened with UR 2.7 and 2.8 and it happens with OR in version 2.8. I realize that most of the time it happens when I change tracks within a few seconds of playing a song. I don't know where the problem is, whether in the network, in the OR or in the Matrix spdif.

It's difficult to find a pattern when interruptions happen, sometimes weeks go by without them occurring, yesterday it happened 3 times in a few hours.

 

@vortecjr, is it normal for the OR to identify the Matrix as a DAC?

 

It's always been like this around here, even with the UR, my DAC is a PS Direcstream.

 

My path is Roon - HQplayer - OR - Matrix - Direcstream.

The crash just happened here, I tried restarting only the OR and the Matrix, it started playing again, so the communication difficulty must be between these 2 devices.

I installed SD yesterday with version 2.9. One question, is there a burning period?
 

As insane as this question may seem, I felt the “harder” sound typical of something new in the audio chain.

Pelo que vale, não notei nada de diferente no início. Depois de mais ou menos uma semana, percebi que estou gostando um pouco mais da minha música digital, nenhuma alteração foi feita em minha cadeia além de mudar o sistema operacional UltraRendu para v2.9. Também toco um pouco de vinil para misturar as coisas.

I noticed potentially greater detail when installing the new SD but the sound seemed harsher with digitized artifacts, I left it playing straight, let's see what it will be like today after 24 hours of burning.

Yes, I'll wait a few hours of use to evaluate again, if the initial impression remains I'll go back with the SD with 2.8.

 

PS: I used a new Sandisk Class 10 to burn the 2.9 OS, while the 2.8 OS is on a Sandisk Class 4.

How many hours did you leave the 2.9 playing?
 

Here, after about 30 hours the shrillness in the treble ended and the sound settled down, I haven't gone back to the 2.8 yet but it's certainly playing better with the 2.9 burnt out.
