preproman
If the cost was the same which DAC would be a better choice? Headamp Blue Hawaii Special Edition / Stax SR-009, SR-007 MKI, SR-007 MKII Lumin A-1 Network Player iPAD Pro / JRemote App JRiver 21 / unRAID NAS Link to comment
mstieb
It would help if you tell us what DAC input (USB, coax, optical) you intend to use, and a little about the rest of your system. 1) Asus netbook/XP > decco integrated > audiodata 88 dB @1W/1m, 8 Ohm loudspeakers[br]2) Rega Planet or Asus desktop/XP > Rega IO > Mapleshade-modded Heathkit SA-2 (2x EL84/ch) > audiodata 90 dB @1W/1m, 4 Ohm loudspeakers Link to comment
preproman
This is the last part to my system. I currently have the 2010 mac mini, the Marantz AV7005 and Amps by Emotiva. I would like to go from the mini to maybe a V-link into a DAC via USB or I can just go to the DAC via S/PDIF. I also would like to know what software works well with the mac for pure SQ? skyline
Well, we do have an idea of what the Rega is capable of. In the positive feedback review, Andy Schaub mentions it almost sounds as good as his DCS debussy DAC. Of course, he was using a Sonicweld Diverter and a $2850 Locus Design USB cable. I don't know how many people buying the Rega will be using those auxiliary components, but at least we know its potential. Waversa hub > Lumin S1 > Bakoon HPA-21 Link to comment
