frejo
I just ordered a Samsung 980 pro nvme for my new build. It is very fast. Then I saw that the power under work is appr. 5 watts. Is this a concern? Should I replace it with something slower, and perhaps cooler? Link to comment
MarcelNL
If that SSD survives with regular use it should definitely be OK in a music server (provided you plan on using it for that). I have one, and it sounds better than a previous SSD, not near as good as Optane or the Femto NVME I'm using. frejo
Thanks for your input @MarcelNL. I don't believe I can use an Optane anyway and I saw yesterday the thread about the femto. But that is not in my budget for now. Link to comment
MarcelNL
Optane can be used are regular SSD, at least I was able to on a previous MB. Somehow my latest MB does not recognize it or I would have used it to boot the OS from.
