desbiss
Hi, I presently have my music library stored on my mini's SSD. I am considering a 500G G-Drive mini external drive after having found one at a great price. Is anyone using this external drive, are you happy with it? I presume that external drives are relatively similar and that, as long as you use a decent quality one, the results will be favourable... On that note - does moving music files from the mini's internal SSD to an external HDD really make a sonic improvement? Logic in this forum indicates that this is a better way to have one's system set up. I appreciate the technical reasons that attribute to related performance improvement but am curious if the sonic benefits are all that noticeable... Two remaining questions: 1. What's the best way to transfer my music files? Is the process defined by Macworld at the below link a good path to take? http://www.macworld.com/article/157240/2011/01/howto_move_itunes.html?lsrc=nl_mwweek_h_cbstories 2. The packaging of the G-Drive mini (below link) indicates it is Mac OS Extended (Journaled) out of the box. Prior to moving my music files, is it better to re-format the drive to be Mac OS Extended (no journaling)? I recall reading this somewhere in the forum but do not recall the specifics as to why 'no journaling' is better... http://g-technology.com/products/g-drive-mini.cfm Thanks in advance, Des Link to comment
