Need Help: SOTM NEO 200 and HQPlayer

Recommended Posts

This has been working fine for months now all of a sudden no matter what i try I cant get hqplayer to detect the Neo 200 as a NAA even though I can connect to the NEO via ip fine and it appears to be working as expected.

I have tried 2 different computers, even brought the neo to a completely different network and still have the same issue "NAA adapter not found"

NAA is "enabled" on the main screen and shows active in green. In addition IPV6 is enabled.

I don't understand what changed, all was fine then came back a couple days later and wont connect. I did have to install a windows cumulative update and a .net framework update.

Maybe that broke something?

OK all I got it figured out my issue and wanted to share what I found, though I am sure this may have been posted already.

SO after tons of testing this issue I was about to give up. But decided to try one last thing. I had read some stuff about the DAC being detected by NAA etc. I plugged the Topping D10 into the USB interface of the NEO and BOOOOM!!!!!

In my testing I did not have anything plugged into the Neo when I brought it home to try on the other computer/network. THAT was the issue!  Apparently the NAA or NEO or whatever needs to see "something" plugged in on the other end in order for HQ player to fully detect it as a NAA.

After going back to my original setup I found that the power cord to my Denafrips GAIA had gotten bumped and was not powered on..... That was the next step in the chain behind the NEO, hence why it would not be detected on HQplayer.

I was just going right into HQ player and not seeing the device being detected and figured it was something in front of the GAIA or with HQ player.

Yes, NAA is detected without a DAC, but no devices cannot be listed if there are no devices. You always select a DAC for output, since you can have any number of DACs behind any number of NAAs. You could have for example four different DACs behind a single NAA. You need to select which one of those you want to use.

In addition, for HQPlayer to work, it needs to be able to enumerate capabilities of a DAC. Thus HQPlayer cannot operate if it cannot access the DAC.
