Playing 16/44 ripped AIFF files on a Mac through Itunes vs. another Player? Advantages? Disadvantages?

Hi, I'm new to audiophile forums so please forgive my naivete. But if I'm only playing CD's ripped to AIFF (at 16/44) and using a Mac Mini, should Amarra, Ayrewave or any other software be better on playback than Itunes (with the Itunes sampling rate correctly set to 16/44)? I'll be listening through an excellent amp, speakers and DAC. Thanks.
