Network Playback, Buffers, Continuous Stream, etc...

For those with spikes during playback, does the entire track get sent, thus enabling the cable to be pulled (if you actually wanted)?

I believe the Roon Core itself does this when pulling from Tidal or Qobuz... even if between Roon Core and Endpoint is 'continuous'.

No, it streams the file from the streaming service...

Yes what I meant is it streams it as fast as possible - there's a big burst with each track being pulled from Tidal/Qobuz by the Roon Core.

And then a more 'steady' stream to the Roon endpoints.

This is an old post by Roon's CTO but I don't think anything has changed.

Let's see if it is still around after 5 - 10 years.

I feel like we could play the "let's see if they are still around in 10 years" game for every popular name/brand/company in this hobby and there would be uncertainty for all.

So better not play that game and enjoy what we have now 😁

Here's a good screen recording of Roon pulling a 24/96 track from Qobuz, then streaming it to an opticalRendu. You can see the receiving Ethernet speed hit 818 Mbps and the sending Ethernet is a steady continuous stream to the endpoint.

Just like Roon's CTO mentions how Roon works, in my screenshot I shared... Roon treats both Tidal and Qobuz the same in this regard.

I would assume he knows how Roon works.

But as you showed, it's easy to test/verify.
