Pettyofficer
I know this is Forum is about sound, but I have a real vexing problem trying to get a PC VGA Resolution that is supported by VGA Input to Sharp LC-42SB48UT LCD TV. Have gone through every option that is listed in Sharp Manual twice, and have gone beyond those as well. Still get, "not supported", flashing on screen. PC utilizes Integrated ATI Radeon HD 4200 GPU. I have ran through the gamut of the following without success: 1024 x 768 True Color (32 Bit) 75 Hz, 1024 x 768 True Color (32 Bit) 70 Hz, 1024 x 768 True Color (32 Bit) 60 Hz, 1024 x 768 High Color (16 Bit) 75 Hz, 1024 x 768 High Color (16 Bit) 70 Hz, 1024 x 768 High Color (16 Bit) 60 Hz, 1024 x 768 High Color (16 Bit) 72 Hz, 1024 x 768 True Color (32 Bit) 72 Hz, 1280 x 720 High Color (16 Bit) 60 Hz, 1280 x 720 True Color (32 Bit) 60 Hz, 1280 x 1024 High Color (16 Bit) 60 Hz, 1280 x 1024 True Color (32 Bit) 60 Hz, 1280 x 1024 True Color (32 Bit) 70 Hz, 1280 x 1024 True Color (32 Bit) 75 Hz. I have ran through the gamut of Resolutions-No Joy! VGA Cable is rated at 2048 x 1536 at 85 Hz. Sent various E-mails to Sharp Customer Service, no response. Biggest problem is trying to get beyond Resolution limitations of existing ACER PC Monitor. You gotta have something on display to adjust Resolution, but Windows 7 limits this to the maximum applicable for specific PC Monitor. How do you adjust for higher Resolutions for a LCD TV, when TV only displays, "not Supported"? What is it that I am doing wrong? Nothing seems to be supported by Sharp LCD TV VGA Input, is it malfunctioning? Is this operator error? Any input would be appreciated! Link to comment
PeterSt
There was a time I knew all about this. But not anymore. One tip though (and this varies per implementation hence manufacturer) : try all you tried for HDMI if you tried for DVI, or the other way around. Some manufacturers differentiate in between the two, and dedicate DVI to "computer monitor resolutions" whilest dedicating HDMI to more "video" and TV resolutions. So, the possibilities just are different for the two. In that case, this should be in the manual. 2c only, Peter Lush^3-e Lush^2 Blaxius^2.5 Ethernet^3 HDMI^2 XLR^2 XXHighEnd (developer) Phasure NOS1 24/768 Async USB DAC (manufacturer) Phasure Mach III Audio PC with Linear PSU (manufacturer) Orelino & Orelo MKII Speakers (designer/supplier) Link to comment
MadCow
Had a similar issue with my 2009 Mac Mini -> Samsung tv. VGA connection shows the image properly, but with some annoying "resolution not supported" overlay that wouldn't go away. I never figured it out, but I switched to using a DVI-to-HDMI adapter and never looked back. Link to comment
