I wouldn't dismiss the DAC performance of the latest iPhones and iPads. AMP maybe, depending on what needs to be driven.

Sure they will. A Chord Mojo or iFi Nano BL etc etc, with your phone serving the music.

 

The iPad Pro's DAC performance itself is good. And these things continue to improve with time.
