Miska
You don't need to use HQPlayer's user interface, because with the Desktop version you can use any of the three alternative GUIs for controlling the player (Alchemy, Muso or Roon). In addition, I am using HQPlayer Embedded in a separate headless computer and sending audio from Mac Mini using Tidal and Spotify applications to the HQPlayer for upsampling. Pretty simple, pressing power button brings up the HQPlayer Embedded in about three seconds, and pressing power button again takes the computer down in about one second. I can control filters and such with web browser when necessary. (this way I can also get Tidal's MQA decoding with HQPlayer's upsampling, if I want (not really)) UELong 1 Signalyst - Developer of HQPlayer Pulse & Fidelity - Software Defined Amplifiers Link to comment

At the moment AES or S/PDIF (coax or optical). There are other options too, but not tested yet. Signalyst - Developer of HQPlayer Pulse & Fidelity - Software Defined Amplifiers Link to comment
