Denafrips R2R DAC (plays 512 DSD) reviewed as giant killer

Recommended Posts

I honestly don’t understand why Denafrips doesn’t do true NOS.

is it a software thing or DSP thing?

that would make it a lot more appealing for people who use HQplayer and other 3rd party filters interpolators and modulators.

you guys are using a filter that behaves like NOS.
Its not true NOS

thats a pity

genuine question btw.   Not trying to be snarky.

the impact is to those who prefer not to up sample, where the built in linear interpolation becomes effectively a high frequency filter as bit rate drops.

Might sound more pleasant to the casual listener but don't expect high hat cymbals to be convincing... kind of a mid fi marketing decision to me

i don’t get it.
i would be in the market for Denafrips if their DACs would have true NOS to upsample with properly.

oh well.  Maybe one day.

The underlying linear interpolation algorithm was measured by Golden Sound  as effecting below ~ 700khz sample range. Chord is similar with its WTA algorithm

for up sampling. To defeat the algorithm, up-sampling at or above its frequency  (705/768k) should avoid conflicting algorithm issues.

not completely from what I’ve heard.
