drabbis
I am interested in using the usb3.0 input of my wifi router as a nas via my external hdd drive. whats the difference in doing this versus using a nas box like qnap. I use my macbook pro as my roon core attached to my dac. so the set up is set up: external HDD -> usb 3.0 -> wifi router usb.3.0 input -> cat 7 cable -> (roon)macbook pro-> dac is there a advantage for a true nas vs this method? davide256
1) A true NAS allows you to run a media server application like minimserver 2) Ethernet connection to router/switch is a good thing for electrical isolation, USB connection is not. Regards, Dave Audio system Link to comment
