Tried coaxial with my dac.

Recommended Posts

I tried a 3,8 metre coaxial cable I made myself with my dac (meitner ma 1) connected to a Sony blu-ray player (S350) mainly for film audio but I also played some CDs and compared it with my laptop.

The laptop is a i5 intel computer about 1 years old with internal SSD and 6MB memory using JRiver 19 and Aquvox USB power supply. To my surprise the blu-ray via coaxial sounds better! I wonder why, is it my laptop beeing bad or my dac which usb input is bad? Do I need something like Aurender to get good sound from the usb input of this dac?

If I recall correctly Meitner does not do galvanic isolation on usb receiver (arguing that that isolation increases jitter) so you are left with your own measures do reduce noise on the usb connection...
