Jason, did you ever find out if the PS Add-on will be of any benefit to users that power their Regen with the JS-2? If so what is the answer.

No, it wasn't answered. Guess we'll have to wait! ;-)

Thanks for the reply. I talked to him by phone about 3 days ago and said orders are filled up thru July for the Basic REGEN. I haven't ordered yet. Got to sale my old 23" apple ZMonitor yet to get the cash.

Wow, you're special...you got a phone call with him. Darn.

The projected/potential product is not a new kind of Regen but an add-on to the Regen's power supply (either the power supply that ships with the Regen or another you provide yourself). There is no Regen other than what you refer to as the "Basic" one.

OR to make it easier, nothing else than what's on the UpTone website that you can purchase today and receive when your order is filled.

I think Alex has wisely learned to refrain from dropping hints about products that are far from being made/finished. He doesn't have time to answer all the questions that pop up, and some of them multiple times.

Yep, I'd add that I'd wait to buy anything to power the REGEN unless you buy a JS-2. :-)

Wait, 90 days is 3 months. We are working towards trying to ship in October (ideally early in it). So make of that what you will. Really I should keep my trap shut. ;)

Alex-

Bottom line is that it is what it is. We can have it right or we can have it now but we can't have it right now! ;-)

Hey, Superbad :P

Do you know of a cool way to detect which of my various wall-wart power supplies is causing the most havoc on the computer USB Ground plane?

I do I do. Replace them all with a JS-2. :-) Muahhhhhh

Hello, newbie to this site here. I've been reading the (many!) posts on the ReGen here and am intrigued. Can someone please tell me where you can purchase one? Also interested in the UpTone. Thanks in advance ...

Sorry, that's NOT going to happen. Would give away the bombshell surprise. So would telling you the name of it. ;)

I really doubt that. But even if you think you know what we are up to, please do not spoil the surprise. It would make me VERY sad.

Thanks,

ALEX & JOHN

P.S. Please check your e-mail.

Sorry but I don't like to follow directions.

You have the Vega correct?

My only interest in the REGEN (since I use the Adnaco) is possibly that better clocking will offer some benefit to the Vega.

It's much easier to add a REGEN, but wouldn't an ideal solution be to replace the Vega Clock?

blizzard just mentioned $250 drop-in replacements for the Vega in another thread on CA.

Both of these options assume that better source clocking improves performance of a sync DACs.

Thoughts?

Yes, I use Vega's. I haven't seen the other thread thus have no thoughts but do think that Mr. Wang would be the proper one to ask as the rest to me is purely speculative and subjective.

To be honest, it was actually way more than a JS-2, the JS-2 has 5A spread amongst two outputs, so say 3 on one and 2 on the other. The monster we were talking about was 10A per output all at the same time! So that was 40A total. From 5V to 19V.

That's pretty awesome and I could totally see these selling...

I have 4 LPS in my house, cost that adds up to this one box solution. I would seriously think about ditching the others and having one LPS on the table.

Well, if I were in charge I'd build a few and make it a made to order product only with a 45 - 60 lead time at first. This way there are no upset customers as they know going into it that there is a lead time for a custom built (not of the shelf component) and if there's enough demand one can always hire more help and expand the product to bring it down to a more reasonable lead time. That's just me but Alex I'm sure will disagree.

What's everyone using to power their REGEN's. Is there any LPS's out there that can compare to the new types of SMPS options out there such as this:

Accessory – iPower

I'm using the UpTone Audio JS-2.

Jeff Rowland has a new super capacitor power supply for the Aeris DAC and Corus preamp that was tentatively priced at >$8000 a couple of years ago (so it's probably going to cost more than that). I'm not sure whether it's shipping yet. I heard it was being shown privately at Munich High End. It makes John's unit look like a bargain.

Yep. A lot of things in the power realm make the UpTone Audio / John Swenson units seem like a bargain. On top of the performance you also get products that arrive as promised and a personal email from a human. ;-)

What Amps are you powering with them?

This is the setup I'll be running in each speaker minus the pure class A input stages.

The post above looked like the Hypex SMPS modules that are in my NC1200 based amps as noted in my sig below.

It's the 1200A700's combined with 4 NC500's. Going in a 4 way active speaker with dedicated supply for mid/tweets and dedicated supply for Woofers per side.

Yeah, nice. So did you get them since they're (NC500) OEM only? Are you in the biz?

I got them because they are the best amp they currently make. And I like that they are input bufferless. Allows me to build my own input stage.

Yes, I'm quite aware what they're about. I think the NC1200 is better. ;-)
