cjf
I picked this up last night and am pleased with the SQ of it compared to the Red Book version I own. The Red Book always seemed overly compressed sounding and can be confirmed by its DR8 value for the whole album. This 24/96 version sounds much improved and brings out the soundstage details previously unheard. A good buy for those into this type of music. foobar2000 1.2.6 / Dynamic Range Meter 1.1.0 log date: 2014-07-05 11:49:19 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Analyzed: Bon Jovi / New Jersey -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DR Peak RMS Duration Track -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DR10 0.00 dB -11.53 dB 5:59 01-Lay Your Hands On Me DR9 0.00 dB -10.71 dB 5:17 02-Bad Medicine DR10 0.00 dB -11.08 dB 4:40 03-Born To Be My Baby DR11 -0.19 dB -13.06 dB 4:39 04-Living In Sin DR10 -0.06 dB -11.79 dB 6:17 05-Blood On Blood DR10 0.00 dB -11.70 dB 5:11 06-Homebound Train DR9 0.00 dB -11.53 dB 5:09 07-Wild Is The Wind DR14 -0.21 dB -26.94 dB 1:25 08-Ride Cowboy Ride DR10 0.00 dB -11.92 dB 4:45 09-Stick To Your Guns DR10 0.00 dB -11.76 dB 5:47 10-I'll Be There For You DR10 0.00 dB -11.04 dB 4:30 11-99 In The Shade DR16 -0.21 dB -17.64 dB 3:58 12-Love For Sale -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Number of tracks: 12 Official DR value: DR11 Samplerate: 96000 Hz Channels: 2 Bits per sample: 24 Bitrate: 3170 kbps Codec: FLAC ================================================================================ My Audio System -Last Updated May 20 2021 Link to comment
agentalbert
Glad you're enjoying it, but I assume you are comparing it to the 90's remastered CD, which added a significant amount of compression compared to the original release. The original 1988 CD comes out as DR13. The 90's remasters weren't the worst of the decade - they were listenable, but they were compressed. Link to comment
