johnsm Posted May 28, 2013 Author Share Posted May 28, 2013 Wow $2500 is way over my budget. Thanks for the reply though. Link to comment
alexwgoody Posted May 28, 2013 Share Posted May 28, 2013 I think he mistook the $500 you spoke of as pertaining to each speaker. Do you have a plan of how you might run this 5.1 off your pc? with a receiver? Details might help as not having a receiver of any type means you will need powered speakers. Link to comment
DigiPete Posted May 29, 2013 Share Posted May 29, 2013 I did. The 6010 is where my world starts, sorry. Have you considered something 2nd hand (pre-owned in new speak)? And do you have a 5.1 sound card? Promise Pegasus2 R6 12TB -> Thunderbolt2 -> MacBook Pro M1 Pro -> Motu 8D -> AES/EBU -> Main: Genelec 5 x 8260A + 2 x 8250 + 2 x 8330 + 7271A sub Boat: Genelec 8010 + 5040 sub Hifiman Sundara, Sennheiser PXC 550 II Blog: “Confessions of a DigiPhile” Link to comment
Panelhead Posted June 9, 2013 Share Posted June 9, 2013 I am going round in circles reading reviews. Can somebody please recommend me a good 5.1 speaker set for my PC. I am willing to pay up to about £350 ($530). Look at Newegg. I ordered a Martin Logan MLT-2 system today. It is 5.1, four satellites, center channel, and sub. These were 1,000.00. Must be discontinued. It was 199.00 with shipping today. I will hook it up in the video room. But will need a 5.1 amp of some sort. Also Blue Sky makes some nice active 5.1 systems, but that is over your budget. George 2012 Mac Mini, i5 - 2.5 GHz, 16 GB RAM. SSD, PM/PV software, Focusrite Clarett 4Pre 4 channel interface. Daysequerra M4.0X Broadcast monitor., My_Ref Evolution rev a , Klipsch La Scala II, Blue Sky Sub 12 Clarett used as ADC for vinyl rips. Corning Optical Thunderbolt cable used to connect computer to 4Pre. Dac fed by iFi iPower and Noise Trapper isolation transformer. Link to comment
