seantucker2112
I like these guys' music and was tempted to download the 24-bit 88 kHz self-titled album from HD Tracks. But fearing I'd be wasting my money, I decided to download just one track first and have a look. I chose Stubborn Love. The verdict is a mixed bag: Seems to have solid content up to 44 kHz, but there is also moderate dynamic range compression. Listening to the track, you can definately hear the compression :-(. I probably will pass on paying the premium for the rest of the album. But if anyone else pulls the trigger, I'd be interested in hearing if the compression on the rest of the album is any better. Julf
Seems to have solid content up to 44 kHz It looks like the "real" content trails off at 25 kHz, and beyond 30 kHz you just have the regular DSD noise-shaping noise. Link to comment
Archimago
IMO, if an album has <DR12, I'd be very hesitant to consider a HR purchase. Makes no sense going to 24-bit with such obviously compressed audio. Archimago's Musings: A "more objective" take for the Rational Audiophile. Beyond mere fidelity, into immersion and realism. R.I.P. MQA 2014-2023: Hyped product thanks to uneducated, uncritical advocates & captured press. Link to comment
