Depends if you have the computer hard wired to your system. If you do then the sound card can have an affect on the sound if you are streaming then it should not matter.

The problem may lie in the internet streams themselves. I just compared a classical rock station to the corresponding CD and found they are using heavy equalization (some kind of loudness effect). There is also the bit rate limitation (mostly 128 kbit/s, sometimes lower).

 

How do you like the sound of your computer when you play a ripped CD through your main system?
