HQPlayer's Network Audio Adapter

Recommended Posts

?? I used to drag/drop from MusicBee and JRMC. I assumed it worked on Mac, but I could easily be wrong. Presently I use Muso as a front end.

iTunes?

Anything that runs Win or OSX can readily be used as an NAA. Just download it and start it once your machine is already set to play to the proper output device. The headless Linux appliance would be the hot rodded method. There are some available that run as NAAs out of the box- SOtM for instance.

That sounds jolly.

All I need now is a list of existing NAAs.

Where can I find such a thing?

No, you have to use AIFF or WAV AFAIK.

Does HQP on OSX like dealing with ALAC? I would assume using an iTunes front end would be an ok place to drag and drop from; I'd be more worried that the file format is HQP friendly.

Risky? Limited and a PITA certainly, but it is easily dealt with as long as they know in advance.

Yes, that was my point, same with Linux. His Teac will want Win or OSX as an NAA, and want AIFF/Wav as the only iTunes friendly format. So dragging from iTunes would be risky.

Fair enough-sorry... I just didn't want to discourage its use.

Somehow we are in a semantics battle here. I meant risky in that the person asking was somewhat a newbie with HQP and most OSX iTunes libraries are not 100% AIFF. Drag an AAC or M4A and get an error or worse. So to me "limited and PITA" kinda means the same thing. :)

This one may have enough eMMC to avoid needing a HD or SSD. It will run Linux well presumably, and not all NUC do easily AFAIK. Here are some instructions:

As jabbr says. Also, "NUC" stands for "New Unit of Computing," but everyone just calls them NUCs.
