A CD rip using XLD

Recommended Posts

I am getting ready to do a rip of a CD using XLD. Normally, I do not use XLD nor MAX for CD rips. But in this case, I may be dealing with a CD that might be, at least, in acceptable condition if not better condition to do a rip of it in 16/44.1 AIFF.

Can someone please provide me with a step-by-step set of instructions in how to do this rip using XLD.

I have a Mac with iTunes.

Thanks for your help.

1. Insert CD. At this point XLD may automatically open and pull in CD and will want you to specify an output or destination directory.

2. If XLD does not open, launch XLD and go to "File" --> "Open Audio CD".

3. Confirm it pulls in the CD and identifies the meta data correctly.

4. Select "XLD" --> "Preferences" and make sure Output format is set to AIFF.

5. Change any other preferences you want.

6. Click "Extract" on the main application window.

Main / Office: Home built computer -> Roon Core (Tidal & FLAC) -> Wireless -> Matrix Audio Mini-i Pro 3 -> Dan Clark Audio AEON 2 Noire (On order)

Portable / Travel: iPhone 12 Pro Max -> ALAC or Tidal -> iFi Hip Dac -> Meze 99 Classics or Meze Rai Solo

The first thing you should do is set up all the preferences.

Here's some screen shots of what I generally use.

Don't forget when you set the Output Format, make sure to go into the sub menu & set to "as per original".

Also, go to the iTunes preferences & make sure they are set as per the example.
