Vox Loop Music Locker - Unlimited & Lossless

    thumb.png

1-Pixel.pngYesterday Amazon launched its unlimited Cloud Drive and today Coppertino, the company who created the Vox music application for OS X, announced it will soon be releasing what it calls the Loop Music Locker. The Loop Music Locker is pretty cool in that it's built right into the Vox player, will upload nearly any type of lossless audio format including FLAC, APE, ALAC, AIFF, WAV, for a total of 43 formats, store unlimited amounts of data in the cloud, and enable users to stream this content in full lossless quality. In a way this is like a mix of Amazon Cloud Drive and TIDAL HIFI with the exception that it only contains the music one owns (no subscription music). Streaming from the cloud to the Vox Mac app and Vox iOS app are supported as is offline caching, just like TIDAL. Loop Music Locker will cost $49.99 per year or $4.99 per month.

A big thanks to Mac Rumors for getting the scoop on this one!

UPDATE: I just tested uploading high resolution PCM up through 24 bit / 192 kHz and playing it back on my iPhone 6+. It uploads to the cloud and plays from the cloud without issue. I'm not sure the iPhone isn't resampling it to a lower resolution but at least it plays. Here are screenshots. Note the "Hi-Res" and the sample rate on the top of the image.

Update 2: Coppertino just confirmed the iPhone is hardware resampling all high resolution music.

FYI, Chris, the Vox Loop app for iPhone finally started seeing music today!

I started a thread on their forum about my issue and had a LOT of other users complaining as well. Vox developers kept stating they were working on a solution and today, it looks like they solved it.

According to the Coppertino guys the iPhone is hardware resampling anything over 24 but / 48 kHz.

Quick question. I know this is true when using the internal DAC. Did Coppertino say this is also true when using an external DAC through the lightning connection (i.e. Oppo HA-2)
