I'm embarrassed posting the following as it seems pretty unplausible but I need help as I'm stuck. Setup is Server running Roon Core on Sonicorbiter (Audiostore Prestige 2 - very similar to SonicTransporter i7). MicroRendu as Roon Ready NAA Singxer SU-1 Directstream DAC. I was adding some music to the Server SSD and whilst playing around updated both the server and MicroRendu's names (for the network). Everything stopped working and it took me nearly two hours of messing around before any music played again. I have everything working except the SU-1. I can find the MicroRendu and play music to it. The SU-1's blue lights show it's playing. My Directstream DAC reacts to changes in the bit-rate. But it's totally silent. I plug the USB from the MicroRendu into the USB port on my Direcstream and hey presto I can now hear the music. I've tried resetting everything I can think of. Disabling roon DSP etc. Curiously neither the SU-1 or the DAC show that they are receiving DSD when I set Roon to output DSD. I figured it was something wrong with the setup in Roon in the MicroRendu so I changed it from Roon-Ready to DNLA and sent music to it from Bubble Upnp - but again totally silent at the DAC when going via the SU-1. Any ideas? I'm at a complete loss as to how a network device name change can have thrown my system so off kilter that the SU-1 or the Directstream are completely silent with I2S. Is there a way to do factory resets on the SU-1 or the MicroRendu to see if this resolves? Any helpful suggestions would be great. Many Thanks, Alan

I think most of us would agree that connecting your DAC via USB pretty much sucks. If it didn't, there wouldn't be a growing market for isolators, decrapifiers, regenerators and digital converters. To get an I2S signal into my DAC I use a Singxer SU-1 to convert a USB input signal to I2S output. Magni HiFi is now selling an updated version of their streamer, the Mano ULTRA. (link) The Mano ULTRA takes an Ethernet input and creates an I2S output. I'm wondering which of these two devices is going to give me the BEST performance? The Mano ULTRA is supposed to have improvements in power distribution, better capacitors, an upgraded power supply and an improved reclocking circuit. I have zero experience with the original Mano or the new and improved Mano Ultra. I thought I'd bring my question to the group for feedback.
